Rej Forte’s Jah Works label was started in 1989 and in the early years all the music was produced by hiring time in studios such as ‘The Refuge’ and ‘Channel One UK’. This changed Circa 1996 when Rej purchased the Ampex One Inch, 8- track tape machine ("Bertha") that had been used on many a production at Channel One UK. Thus the ‘Seventh Sense’ studio was born.
The inception of the studio and removal of the ‘Hourly Rate’ restriction allowed Rej more time for creativity and experimentation, and thus a more detailed and more ‘musical’ version of the Jah Works sound.
The ‘Messages’ compilation album was the first fruit to come from the new set up and captures a slice of the history of UK roots.
The album carries on the Jah Works trait of exposing new talent rather than relying on established names, and showcases an array of different styles of Roots Reggae.
Originally released on heavy weight vinyl (Limited edition of 700) The album is now a collectors piece.
We are pleased to make it officially available for the first time for download and streaming, Digitally re-mastered and sounding fresh as the day it was released.
